Nakheel Birkdale International LLC (UAE)
The strengths of Nakheel Birkdale International LLC are many and varied which make it unique in the United Arab Emirates and surrounding Middle East countries.
This new company was registered in Abu Dhabi on 7 May
2009 specifically to provide the governments, developers,
contractors and landscape architects with a total package for
landscaping their projects. This package includes an extensive
range of quality trees, palms, shrubs, groundcovers and turf
plus the necessary services to ensure that projects are executed
with ease, confidence and accuracy.
Nakheel Birkdale International’s Australian Directors have
over 20 years experience in servicing large scale, high profile
international landscape projects such as integrated parks
and resorts, commercial and residential developments, golf
courses, sports fields, government and public works projects,
as well as botanic and large private gardens, primarily in Hong
Kong, China and Macau. High profile clients have included
Disneyland Hong Kong, Royal families in Bahrain, Brunei and
Japan, Hong Kong Jockey Club, Hong Kong Golf Club.
To supply plants for both interior and exterior landscaping,
Nakheel Birkdale can competitively supply trees, palms, shrubs
and groundcovers from Birkdale International’s production
facilities in China, Thailand and Australia, and its international
network of quality suppliers from China, Thailand, Malaysia,
Indonesia, Egypt, Lebanon, Europe and Australia. This
substantially increases Nakheel Birkdale’s ability to supply
large quantities of plants and widens the variety available to
add diversity and interest to landscape designs.
In April 2010, the Directors appointed an Operations Manager, based in the UAE, to establish Nakheel Birkdale’s production nursery in the Al Ain region, and to be the liaison person with governments, developers, contractors and landscape architects. He has six years experience in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and seven years experience in south East Asia in landscape construction, project management and horticulture, specifically in production, installation of trees and shrubs, and turf.
The new production nursery in the Al Ain region will provide trees, palms, shrubs, groundcovers and turf.
As well as producing exotic plants that are suited to United Arab
Emirates’ project requirements, the company is committed to
research and development of hardy native species that will enhance
the landscape as well as being sustainable in the long term.
The Directors have been involved in the research and
development (over 18 years) of Australian native plants, many of
which are now popular landscaping plants. The trend towards
using native plants in Australian landscapes started around
30 years ago and has resulted in a wide range of plants to suit a
diversity of conditions. As many areas of Australia are drought
affected, there has been great emphasis placed on the use of
sustainable native species. Already, the Directors have researched
which Australian species are suited to the climatic conditions
(including some soil types) of the United Arab Emirates. Initially,
these plants would be imported and grown on and ultimately
would be produced at the Company’s facilities in the Al Ain area.
To assist government departments, landscape architects,
developers and landscape contractors with plant selection to meet
their specific project requirements, Birkdale International has an
interactive Product Catalogue which has a diverse range of criteria.
Selections can be made without knowing the names of the plants.
Nakheel Birkdale is convinced that expert advice, at the early
stage of landscape projects, assures the long-term success of
any design. By providing products and services that more than
meet the requirements of high profile international projects,
Birkdale gives you a competitive edge.
